Working together with Mahanam Sevak Sangha, Sri Gaudiya mission is planning to commemorate the 534th birth anniversary of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
The seven-day Sri Chaitanya Janmotsav and an accompanying mela (a Hindu fair) will be organized by Gaudiya Mission at Bhagini Nivedita Udyan, Bagbazar, Kolkata-3, from 10th-16th February 2020.
His Divine Grace Om Vishnupada Paramhansa 108 Sri Shrimad Bhaktisundar Sanyasi Goswami Maharaj, Acharya, and president of Gaudiya mission, will be at the head of this important social occasion.
Shri Chaitanya Janmotsav celebrations-2020: Overview
Sri Chaitanya Janmotsav celebrations would consist of a funfair, a public display, a two-day Vaishnava Dharma Sammelan, a two-day national conference, and a programme, relating to the ideas, customs, and intellectual achievements of Gaudiya culture.
There will be congregational chanting, dancing, and performing on musical instruments (which is known as saṅkīrtana) sessions. Apart from sankirtana, the Gaudiya mission has earmarked a part of their Chaitanya Janmotsava celebrations to contests in drawing, recitation, educational talks, fancy dress (Hindu mythological characters) Go-as-u-like events for kids, etc.
A unique feature of Chaitanya Janmotsav observance will be the Nagar Sankirtan procession.
Also, a brilliant gathering of distinguished persons is expected to take part in theseprogrammes.

The commemorations get underway with a sketching contest at Sri Gaudiya Math, Bagbazar, between 2 pm-4 pm.
Chaitanya Janmotsav celebrations on 10th February 2020-Monday!
Coming immediately after is the Grand Nagar Sankirtan parade, from 2 pm-4 pm.
Inaugural speeches from eminent public speakers like Shri Shyamal Kumar Sen, one-time governor of West-Bengal, etc. marks the beginning of the Chaitanya Janmotsav ceremonies.
The day comes to an end with the Nader Nemai performance by Howrah Samaj.
Chaitanya Janmotsav celebrations on 11th February 2020-Tuesday!
This day commences with a contest in giving sermons.
However, the highlight of this day lies in its Dharmasabha (Religious assembly). This gathering will be sharing their views on ‘Universal love and humanitarian value as preached by Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.’
Guest speakers on this day include Smt Krishna Chakraborty, Hon’ble Mayor, BMC, and the rest.
The day concludes with a Gour Leela kirtan by Nityananda Dasadhikary (Banerjee).
Chaitanya Janmotsav celebrations on 12th February 2020-Wednesday!
This day, participants start the ball rolling by testing their narration skills. A formal discussion on Gaudiya philosophy follows this contest.
This day, one gets to hear renowned public figures like Sri Sadhan Pandey, Hon’ble Minister-in-charge, Consumer Affairs, Government of West-Bengal, and so on.
A theatrical work, ‘Bhakta Haridas’ by Sri Namhatta Sangha, brings the day to an end.

This day gets going with a Mridanga (Sri-khol) playing competition.
A Gaudiya Vaishnava symposium on ‘Yugdharma-The spirit of the age, as introduced by Sri Bhakti Siddhanta, Saraswati Goswami Prabhupada’ is the highpoint of this day.
Eminent personalities like Sri Suvendu Adhikari, Hon’ble Minister, in-charge, Department of transport, the government of West-Bengal, etcetera will be associating themselves with activities like enriching Baul and dramatic entertainment by Sri Namhatta Sangha.
Chaitanya Janmotsav celebrations on 14th February 2020-Friday!
A formal meeting on ‘Present society and literature in the light of the thoughts of Shri Chaitanyadev’ will be the focus of this day.
People can hope to hear from distinguished lecturers like Professor Nabanarayan Bandyopadhyaya, past director, School of Vedic Studies, Rabindra Bharati University, and the like.
The day finishes off with a Gour Leela Kirtan, by Sundarananda Dasadhikary.
Chaitanya Janmotsav celebrations on 15th February 2020-Saturday!
The highlight of this day is a Go-As-U-Like competition that features children who dress according to their favourite Hindu mythological character.
An exchange of views on ‘Present society and literature in the light of the thoughts of Shri Chaitanyadev.’ is also encouraged.
Famous names like Sri Sujit Bose, Hon’ble Minister In-charge, Department of Fire Emergency services and forest, and the like will be witness to Mridanga Badan by Hare Krishna Haldar and pupils and Shruti Natak by Binapani Samiti, Howrah.
Chaitanya Janmotsav celebrations on 16th February 2020-Sunday!
The memorial services wind up with a formal procedure.
VIPs like Sri Sudip Bandyopadhyaya, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), etc. and so on are the participants in this day’s proceedings.
